About

The "1939 Vintage House" was originally built by a Linfield professor in 1939 with careful thought and architectural elegance of its era. The "1939" plaque remains, as all of its period details: high ceilings outlined with cove trim, antique pendant lights, original hardwood floors, arched doorways, glass knobs, built-ins, and antique dust covers line the stairway. Relax in comfort and experience history. Conveniently walk minutes to Linfield, or 5 blocks to McMinnville's Famous Third Street.

Good to know

This home provides a variety of private spaces. Main Floor: The main floor is the main living area with the living room, kitchen, dining room, two bedrooms, and one full bathroom in the hallway for everyone to use. The kitchen picture window and backdoor look out and give access to the backyard covered patio and BBQ area. This provides a great connection between all parties, either indoors or outdoors. Upstairs: The upstairs has an office work area on the landing, a bedroom, and a full bathroom for everyone to use. Finished Basement: The finished basement with high ceilings lives large, with a great room set up with games, puzzles (located in a basket near the fireplace), a foosball table, and a giant chalkboard to explore your creative side. The laundry room is also in the basement with a washer/dryer, iron & ironing board. Backyard: The fully fenced, private backyard is its own sanctuary. It has a covered patio surrounded by lush bamboo, BBQ, twinkle lights, and a brick fireplace so that you can cook and enjoy your evenings outside anytime.

Other Details to Note

Outdoor Fireplace: We don't provide wood or an ax to chop wood. Here is the easiest way to keep your fire going with the least effort: without kindling or an ax. At any grocery store, you can buy starter logs and small packages of wood logs. A match will instantly light and burn a starter log. Once the fire is hot enough, add regular wood logs or continue using the starter logs. The starter logs burn even for up to 4 hours and will keep your fire under control. Just so you know, sometimes, the city may ban outdoor fires during fire season. In that case, we will let you know. But if that happens, it probably will be too hot for a fire anyway. Hot Water Heaters: There are two water heaters. One services the main floor: kitchen and full bathroom. The 2nd water heater services the upstairs full bathroom. The water heater that services the main floor is large - but if you have six people occupying the house, please try to space your showers, dishwasher, and laundry use as you would at home.

This was our second stay, and the house and location continued to deliver. Convenient to wineries and the coast. In the evenings, it’s an easy stroll to multiple restaurants. Would stay a third time!

Anita's place was a great home base for the week while we enjoyed McMinville. Very walkable location and an excellent outdoor space for dining and relaxing. Very spacious, well stocked, and nicely decorated. High recommend!

We had a great stay. We loved that it was walkable to restaurants/downtown and had a great outdoor area in the backyard. The location had more space than we needed as a party of two couples but the location was great for exploring the willamette valley. There was construction down the road but the host provided earplugs and eye masks and we use a sound machine regularly.

Charming antique but updated home filled with all amenities needed and then some. It was centrally located to the wine districts and wonderful restaurants. The host was proactive and available if needed. We loved our stay and would highly recommend it.

Uber is new in town - so I don't know how reliable they are at this time. You can also call the Supercab at (503) 714-4224, they operate with cash only. If you don't have cash, they will take you to a cash machine. If you need a ride to the airport, call Hillsboro Airporter at (503) 888-9199, they are very reliable.
